INDIANA NOTARY LEGISLATION SIGNED BY GOVERNOR
After months of work by a group that included Senators Rodric Bray, Lonnie Randolph and Liz Brown, Representatives Martin Carbaugh, Gregory Steuerwald, Thomas Washburne, and Shelia Klinker, the Indiana Notary Association and the office of the Secretary of State, the legislation governing notarial acts in the state of Indiana has been revised.
Known officially as Title 33, Article 42, (IC 33-42) this legislation covers acts by notaries throughout the state of Indiana. The primary revisions approved by the legislature include the following: Increase in maximum fee allowed for notarization; increase in notary bond; educational requirement to receive or renew notary commission; and specific reference for fee for allowed mileage for mobile notaries. The law takes effect July 1, 2018.
